14 Sep Burrows Motor Company Welcome Their Stars of 2018
The 2018 Search for a Star apprenticeship programme built upon the success of the previous years’ programme in recruiting 7 new young adults.
The new recruits had taken part in the Search for a Star programme starting back in October 2017 – when Gaia Innovation and Burrows visited local schools throughout South Yorkshire. The Gaia team spoke to students initially about the exciting job opportunities within the automotive industry and how it is at the forefront of the 4th Industrial Revolution and linked to ‘jobs of the future’. The team then moved on to speak specifically about Burrows Motor Company as a local employer and its Search for a Star apprenticeship programme. During this section of the presentation, members of the Burrows team answered questions about their career path within the industry (many started as apprentices) and what they liked best about their job.
This was followed by the dealership open evenings at Burrows Toyota sites in Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster during January and February 2018. In April, the students then participated in an employability skills training day, ending with the students having a job interview with Burrows personnel. After that, a weeks work placement took place.
The process began with 75 students attending the Dealership Open Evenings with these amazing 8 students becoming employees of Burrows.
We wish the students well and know they will be shining stars within the Burrows family.
Gaia Innovation will continue to watch the students progress with great interest during the next 3 years.
