Debbie Palfreyman Of Burrows Motor Company Is Presented With An Inspiring Automotive Women 2019 Award

A huge congratulations to Debbie Palfreyman, Communications Team Manager of Burrows Motor Company, who was presented with a UK Automotive 30% Club Inspiring Automotive Women Award at the awards dinner on Thursday 3rd October at The Royal Automobile Club in London.

Debbie, who has worked in her current role as Communication Team Manager for 7 years, is responsible for a team of 12 looking after all after-sales bookings. Throughout her time with Burrows, Debbie has become known for her willingness to help, and as a go-to person for advice for many of her female colleagues. Alongside supporting and coaching the women in the business, Debbie has played a significant role in the Burrows Search for a Star apprentice recruitment programme and helps contribute towards creating diversity in the workplace.

The Search for a Star programme allows apprentices to be supported and encouraged by workplace mentors who invest time into inspiring the next generation of automotive employees. Debbie received her award in recognition of making a valuable business contribution to Burrows through being a key participant in the Search for a Star Apprentice Recruitment programme, thus helping to create inclusive work teams. Debbie is one of the supportive and highly motivated mentors that enable Burrows to nurture their apprentices and bring out the best in each and every one of their stars, helping to develop talent in the early stages of their career.

Steve Burrows, Managing Director of Burrows states:

‘Debbie does not just tell people what they want to hear; her advice is always balanced and practical, which means it is also invaluable development coaching for those concerned.’

Here is what Debbie had to say on being presented with a UK Automotive 30% Club Inspiring Automotive Women Award.

‘I felt very very proud and humbled to have been one of the winners at the Inspiring Automotive Women Awards 2019. I was very surprised when I found out, I was actually speechless and those that know me will know this doesn’t happen very often. I’m so lucky, I absolutely love my job but more than that, I love the people I work with. I particularly like my involvement in our Search for a Star programme encouraging and supporting youngsters to consider and think about joining the motor trade. It is important that we understand going out into the big wide world of work is both exciting and scary all at the same time. With Burrows we are here to hold our apprentices hand every step of the way, all we ask is that everyday they bring ‘the very best version of themselves’ and we will absolutely give them ‘the best version of us.’’

Once again, well done to Debbie Palfreyman for being one of 30 Inspiring Automotive Women of 2019 and a huge thank you from the team at Gaia Innovation for the endless support and guidance given to the stars of our programme.
