10 Dec Julia Muir CEO Gaia Innovation Ltd invited to attend Drawing the Future reception.
Julia Muir CEO Gaia Innovation was invited by Nick Chambers CEO Education and Employers Charity to attend the “Drawing the Future” reception on Wednesday 28th November in London. The Education and Employers Charity was launched in 2009 with the vision of providing children and young people with the inspiration, motivation, knowledge, skills and opportunities they need to help them achieve their potential.
The event was an opportunity to congratulate competition winners, runners-up and thousands of primary school pupils who entered the Drawing the Future competition, all of whom got a certificate. The competition asked primary school children ages 7-11 to draw a picture of what they aspired to be when they were older, with the aim to raise career aspirations and understand the breadth of their horizons and to see the factors influencing choices.
Nick Chambers said “Whilst we had a wonderful and fun evening, there is a serious message behind the Drawing the Future competition and report. The report undertaken in partnership with the TES, National Association of Head Teachers, UCL Institute of Education and OECD Education shows the importance of primary aged children meeting a wide range of people doing different job.”
The aims of the Education and Employers Charity competition are very similar to that of Gaia Innovations ‘Inspiration for Innovation’ programme. Through this programme Gaia Innovation aims to ensure young people have a greater understanding of the world of work by creating positive meaningful impacts between the students and employers.
Julia Muir said ”The Hill Primary Academy, a Barnsley school that Gaia Innovation helped via the Inspiration for Innovation programme in 2018 participated in the Drawing the Future competition at the start of the project, and it was wonderful to see how their aspirations had been raised by the end of the year after having met lots of our volunteer “real models”. Through their Inspiring Primary brand, Education and Employer also facilitate such meaningful encounters in primary schools and I would encourage all our Gaia Innovation supporters and partner to register with them.”
