20 May Vantage host Employability Skills Training days for their Search for a Star Applicants
Employability skills are an important part of an individual’s skills set along with their qualifications. These transferable skills are needed by an individual to make them more employable.
As part of the Gaia designed Search for a Star apprenticeship recruitment programme we build in a bespoke employability skills training day, designed to educate and inform the students about the importance of identifying and promoting their transferable skills, making a positive first impression and the use of body language to project confidence and positivity. An integral part of this day is also about preparing students for interviews, whether for a job or further education application.
For the Vantage Search for a Star programme, 41 young people attended an Employability Skills Training and Assessment day across five sites in Birmingham, Leeds, Preston, Wakefield and Wolverhampton. The feedback from the students was extremely positive with many informing us that they would remember this training for a long time. At the end of the training day, all the students were presented with a Certificate of Attendance for their CV portfolio.
“The training day was really useful as it made me feel more confident about attending an interview” – a student
“The Gaia Team were fantastic at presenting the key things you should do and things you should avoid during an interview.” – a student
As part of the day, the students underwent an interview assessment with a member of the Vantage Management team. From these interviews, 26 students have been offered week-long work experience placement.
We can’t wait to find out how they get on!
